It’s not all about the body

People always ask me, how do you do it? How do you make it to the gym and still make healthy choices with your crazy schedule? And reality is that I have just made it a priority. I make time to go. Do I always want to go… heck no! There are many times I just want to lounge around all day, or when I get done from working all day long and I just want to collapse into my hotel bed… but I don’t. I have made working out a priority because I know it is good for me and not just good for my body, it's good for my mind, and my heart!

I decided about five years ago that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. Of always wishing I had more energy, of not fitting into the clothes I wanted to fit into. And so I decided to do something about it. At first it wasn’t natural to always want to go to the gym and make the smart choices with food but eventually it became a part of my normal everyday life. Don’t get me wrong I DO NOT eat perfect and exercise perfectly all of the time. I slack off, I have months where I fall off the wagon majorly. But I have learned to give myself some grace and just keep going.

I don’t post my workouts to brag or to pull the “look at how good I am doing” card. That is SOOO not my heart. My heart is that someone will see my consistency, someone will see me continually preaching, do it even when you don’t want to. Someone will see me make the choice to do what's good for me and that they will get the courage to do the same thing too. I am not a busy momma and I won't even begin to say I understand what it is like because I don’t, but I am busy! My schedule is super sporadic and all over the place, I don’t know what I am doing one day to the next but I made it a priority to keep myself a priority.

I have been working as an actual flight attendant for about 9 months now, 9 crazy months full of multiple moves, job changes, learning a whole new city and industry. When I first got to NYC back in June life had sort of taken over, I had just finished training for my new job which pretty much consumed every hour of the day with only a few hours to try and sleep at night. It didn't leave much time to workout nor did I have a whole lot of control over the food that was served in the cafeteria. But once I got to New York I made a choice to put my health first again. Even those who you “think” have it all together have to stop and reset every once in a while because life is life.

I got a gym membership right away. I changed the vitamins I was using - I did a DNA test that told me exactly what my body needed for vitamins, for workouts, how my body processed food best and where I was deficient in specific vitamins. I started working out about five days a week, nothing too crazy long. I changed up my eating habits a little and I started seeing some crazy results.

I say all of that to say… If I can find time flying around the world like a crazy woman you can probably find time too! You are worth it to invest in yourself, to give yourself the best, to make the choices that are going to lead you to the best version of yourself! Because you are worth it! You are worth investing in! You are worth putting in the work! And you can do it!!! You can make small changes, you can make yourself a priority, you can put in the work to be the best version of you inside and out! Because here is what I know, when you are the best version of you everyone else gets the best version of you too! Take some time to really invest in you because you are the only you this world will ever know!
