Your thoughts run your life

Sometimes I feel like I am shouting the same thing over and over again… mostly to myself but here we go! What are you allowing to take up residence in your mind. You’re mind is like a high dollar piece of real estate and we are just renting it out for free most of the time. What are the thoughts that you are allowing to take up residence? Who are the people you are allowing to speak into your life and take up valuable real estate in your mind? The thoughts we allow in and the things we focus on have a huge impact on our lives. In fact, our life is really going in the direction of our most frequent thoughts. Are those thoughts negative, are those thoughts ones that constantly drag you down, are those thoughts ones that constantly tell you you are not good enough or that you don’t have what it takes?

I think so many times I am just so very unaware of what I am thinking about and then I wonder why I am not content, why I am dissatisfied with how things are going or why I feel like life is falling apart. When I take a step back, when I pause for a few moments and focus on what I am thinking about I can pretty much connect all of the negativity in my life back to my thought life. We are in control of what we think about and what we think about has a whole lot more control over our lives than we give it credit. My mind and thought life has been a mess lately, I have fallen down the slippery slope of trying to figure everything out, of giving in to the negative thoughts instead of fighting back with what I know is true. Of allowing the negative thoughts to not only take up space but to start to take up residence in my mind and it is not just affecting my mind but my physical well being. Friends, it is a moment by moment battle… as much as I hate to admit it we don’t ever arrive at being an expert at not letting our thought life have an affect on us. It is going to take a conscience choice, a significant effort, a decision that you are sick and tired of being tossed around by your thoughts. Choose to be aware of what you are thinking about, choose to want more for your thought life. Be conscious of the fact that your life is going in the direction of your most frequent thought so if you have dreams and goals you better believe that your thought life must line up with those goals and dreams too!
